Helen M. Collins , 81, La Porte, Indiana, passed away Friday, August 11, 2023 at 11:35 am at Trail Creek Place, Michigan City, IN.

A private celebration of life for immediate family members will be held to honor Helen’s final wishes. The Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Michigan City, IN is handling arrangements.

Helen was born December 13, 1941 in Hobart, Indiana to the late William and Marie (Detlefs) Wishman. On September 2, 1967 in Tolleston, IN, Helen married Paul Collins who preceded her in death on August 17, 2016.

She was also preceded in death by two brothers. 

Surviving are three sons, Richard (Suk) Arnold of La Porte, IN, Thomas (Patricia Selzer) Arnold of Chesterton, IN, Alan (Cheryl) Arnold of Goshen, IN; daughter, Paulita (Brett) Qualkenbush of La Porte, IN; four grandchildren, Paul (Katie) Arnold, Melissa  Arnold, Samantha (Riley) Ferrell, Hannah (Tyler) Goeman; four great-grandchildren, Adalyn, Emma, Abbi, Isaac; brother, Louis Wishman of Chicago, IL; many extended family members as well as the staff and residents at Trail Creek Place who she considered part of her family. 

Helen had worked as an office manager at State Farm Insurance. She was a former member of Hillcrest Baptist Church, Hobart, IN and attended Michigan City Christian Church, Michigan City, Indiana.
