Hedwig Macudzinski, 93, New Buffalo, Michigan, passed away Thursday, April 30, 2020 at 7:00 pm at her home surrounded by her family in, Michiana Shores, Michigan.
Private family services will be conducted. Burial will follow in Swan Lake Memorial Gardens, Michigan City, IN. The Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, Indiana is handling arrangements.
She was born October 19, 1926 in Hamm, Germany to the late August and Elfrieda Nordhoff. In September of 1946 in Germany she married John Macudzinski, a former Polish prisoner of war. They emigrated to the United States in 1949. They raised their children in Chicago, IL, and retired to Michiana Shores, MI. John preceded her in death February 9, 1992.
Surviving are a son, Roman (Barbara) Macudzinski of New Buffalo, MI; daughter, Danuta (Craig) Mindrum of Oak Park, IL; five grandchildren, Roman (Elizabeth) Macudzinski, Anna (Kyle) Markuson, Jonathan Mindrum, Jennifer Mindrum, Jessica Mindrum; and two great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Grace and Savannah Jane. She was preceded in death by her sister, Helga Kornfuhrer.
Hedwig was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time with her family and traveling abroad to Germany, visiting extended family. She was a member of Notre Dame Catholic Church in Long Beach, IN and the Michiana Shores Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She also enjoyed cooking for her family and gardening.
