Gregory E. Rogers, 59, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at 12:09 am in his home.

Funeral services will be held at 7:00 pm, Monday, August 20, 2018 at Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, IN with Pastor Al Serhal officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm, Monday at the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel.

He was born August 15, 1958 in Michigan City, Indiana to the late Elvin and Phyllis (Lantz) Rogers. On October 13, 1989 in Pendleton, IN he married Barbara Shebel who survives in Michigan City, IN.

Also surviving are his son, Wesley (Stacey, finace’) Rogers of Rolling Prairie, IN; two grandchildren, Shyann and Cayden; two sisters, Gayle McCray of Michigan City, IN; Patty Meyer (Jim) of San Tan Valley, AZ and two nieces, Jocelyn McCray of Michigan City, IN and Jodi Meyer of Madison, WI; and his nephew, Jack (Amanda, fiance’) Meyer of Virginia. His dog, Piper was both his shadow and faithful companion.

In December of 2017, Greg retired from U.S. Steel after 28 years of employment. He was a member of the I.B.E.W. Local 531 since 1978. He was also a 32 year member of the Phi Delta Kappa Fraternity - Gamma Lambda Chapter. Greg was a lover of nature and enjoyed hunting, fishing, along with wood working projects in his garage. He especially enjoyed the years he coached his son Wes in Coolspring Little League Baseball. Greg’s sense of humor, loving ways and generosity were notable traits which clearly defined him. He always said "Don’t ever let the truth get in the way of a good story." and he never ran out of stories.
