Gregory Luegers, Michigan City, Indiana passed away Monday, November 1, 2021 at 2:11 pm in Franciscan Health-Michigan City, Michigan City, Indiana.

He was born July 13, 1955 to the late William Sr. and Joyce (Bishop) Luegers in Michigan City Indiana. He was a graduate of Marquette Catholic High School and Saint Joseph’s College, Rensselaer Indiana. He also earned a Master’s Degree in Education from Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana.

His career as a teacher and coach (basketball, baseball and soccer) included stints at Notre Dame Catholic Grade School and Marquette Catholic High School in Michigan City and Humble High School in Humble, Texas. He was highly respected for his basketball acumen, especially during his time in the football-obsessed state of Texas.

He is survived by his brothers, William Jr (Susan) Luegers, of Long Beach Indiana, Douglas (Mary Anne) Luegers of LaPorte Indiana and Jeffrey Luegers of Michigan City, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Cremation has taken place and a private family service has been held. Arrangements were handled by the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Michigan City, Indiana.
