Gloria J. Reed, 78, Kingsford Heights, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, January 7, 2025 at 9:29 pm in Powers Health Community Hospital, Munster, IN.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm, Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, IN with  Pastor Eric Gawura officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm, Wednesday at the funeral chapel.

She was born October 20, 1946 in Michigan City, IN to the late Paul and Ruth (Mason) Allen. On April 3, 1971 in Michigan City, IN she married John Reed who survives in Kingsford Heights, IN.

Also surviving are a daughter, Robin (Roger) Vargo of Kingsford Heights, IN; son, Joel (Emily Krause) Reed of La Paz, IN; six grandchildren, Bradley Reed, Austin Gabric, Holly Vargo, Casey Vargo, James Krause and Ruth Reed; ten great-grandchildren, Brandon, Jasmine, Nathan, Jordan, Pheonix, Alison, Quincy, Adonarim, Angela and Joslin; 2 nieces, 1 nephew, a beloved aunt and numerous cousins.

She was also preceded in death by son, Bradley Reed; and brother, Paul Allen.

Gloria had worked as a newspaper editor at The Culver Citizen. She also had worked at the Pilot News, Vidette Messenger, Dover Daily Advance, Michigan City News Dispatch and owned a herb store. Gloria was a children's missionary for Child Evangelism Fellowship. Gloria was an award winning writer. She enjoyed photography, gardening and arts and crafts.
