Glen Edward Redding
May 17, 1945 - February 8, 2025
Glen Edward Redding, 79, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at 12:43 p.m. in Trail Creek Place, Assisted Living, Michigan City.
A private memorial service will be held. The Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington Street, Michigan City, IN is handling arrangements.
He was born on May 17, 1945, in Chicago, Illinois, to the late Howard and Dorothy (Burger) Redding. On July 25, 1972, he married Sharyn (Crouch) Redding, who survives in Michigan City.
Also surviving are his son, Jonathan Redding of Michigan City, Indiana; grandchild, Hailey Redding; grandchild's mother, Michelle Smith; one brother-in-law, Ken (Carolyn) Crouch of Montana; and two sister-in-laws, Elaine (Bill) Jerrills of Florida and Peggy (Tim) Roth of Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Neal Redding.
Glen was a registered nurse at various hospitals and nursing homes. He was well known and liked by many colleagues and co-workers, some in which he had trained. Glen took excellent care of his patients and family. He was patient, selfless, made time for others, and held a great sense of humor. Remembered as his son's hero and role model. No one could ask for a better husband and father. He was a passionate man about his family.
Prior to his nursing career, he worked as a truck dispatcher in Illinois. Glen was a proud member of Alcoholics Anonymous, being sober for over 40 years. He was a avid hiker and enjoyed fishing and bowling. During his childhood, he was in Boy Scouts and Eagle Scouts, eventually being Assistant Den Leader while his son was a scout.
