George Plantinga, 78, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away on Monday, May 6, 2024 at University of Chicago Hospital, in Chicago, Illinois.

Funeral services will be held at 6:00 p.m., Monday, May 13, 2024 at Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, IN. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until time of service Monday at the funeral chapel.

He was born on November 6, 1945, in Barradeel, Baard, Netherlands, to the late Pieter and Jacoba (Kloosterman) Plantinga. On May 26, 1990, in Michigan City, Indiana, he married Judy (Tackett) Plantinga, who survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Brittney Plantinga of Michigan City, Indiana; one son, Brandon Plantinga of Michigan City, Indiana; three brothers, Pieter, Dick, and John Plantinga; one sister, Henny Parker; and one grandson, Cameron Plantinga. 

He was preceded in death by parents; and one sister, Renny Roach.   

For many years, he was a truck driver and business owner. George enjoyed the outdoors and loved the time he spent with his grandson. He also enjoyed relaxing and watching TV with his favorite cat, Snickers. George had a passion for riding and working on motorcycles, specifically Harley Davidson.
