George G. Burroughs, 90, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Thursday, June 5, 2025 at 4:42 pm at his home in Michigan City, Indiana.
Private family services will be held at a later date. Burial will follow in Swan Lake Memorial Gardens, Michigan City, IN. The Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, Indiana is handling arrangements.
He was born March 5, 1935 in Frazee, MN to the late Arthur L. Burroughs and Sarah R. Oshier. On January 14, 1956 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Michigan City he married Sue (Bleck) Burroughs who survives in Michigan City, Indiana.
Also surviving are two sons, Dan (Kathy) Burroughs of La Porte, IN, Darren Burroughs of Michigan City, IN; two daughters, Diana Burroughs of Michigan City, IN, Nancy (Corey) Sims of Michigan City, IN; sister, Irene (Dan) Mowrey of Lebanon, KY; nine grandchildren, Jennifer, Sheila, Anthony, Taylor, Alayna, Briana, Olivia, Corey, Aleah; four great-grandchildren, Charlotte, Evelyn, Lylah, Karter. He was preceded in death by both his parents; sister, Mary Baker; brother, Arthur Burroughs.
George worked up until he was 80 years old retiring in 2015. He did various jobs over his career in the steel industry ranging from supervisor to sales. He was a long-time member of Queen of all Saints Catholic Church. George was a huge John Wayne fan and enjoyed watching western movies and going fishing. He had a great sense of humor and loved to tell jokes and make people laugh, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.
