Frances Marie McFay, age 81, of Fort Sumner, New Mexico, and Michigan City, Indiana, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2026, in Roswell, New Mexico.

Surviving are her daughters: Su J. McFay, Chicago, Illinois and Nicole L. (Chris Ransom) McFay, LaPorte, Indiana; grandson Justin Christy Springfield, Missouri; sister, Stella (Don) Wilmot, New Lenox, Illinois; several beloved nieces and nephews and their families; Her cherished pups: Toffee and Ariel; She was preceded in death by her daughter, Sandra Ingram; brothers, Philip Miziniak and John Miziniak, along with her furry companions, Arabella, Bootsy, Loki and Lorele.
Frances was known for her warm heart, her playful sense of humor, and her generous spirit. She loved crocheting afghans for friends and family, each one made with care and love. She also delighted in making people laugh and was famous for playing with every man’s beard that came by. Her deep love for animals brought her great joy, and they were truly her companions. She was a proud graduate of Isaac C. Elston High School, Class of 1962.
Life is but a stopping place,
A pause in what’s to be,
A resting place along the road,
To sweet eternity.
We all have different journeys,
Different paths along the way,
We all were meant to learn some things,
But never meant to stay…
Our destination is a place
Far greater than we know.
For some the journey’s quicker,
For some the journey’s slow.
And when the journey finally ends,
We’ll claim a great reward,
And find an everlasting peace,
Together with the Lord.
