Elfrieda J. (Lachmund) Menke, 90, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Sunday, September 6, 2020 at 1:40 am in Silver Birch of Michigan City.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, September 12, 2020 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Buffalo & 10th Streets, Michigan City, Indiana with Rev. Jordan Fetcko officiating. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm, Friday and from 8:30 am - 9:30 am Saturday at the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, IN.

She was born March 2, 1930 in Michigan City, IN to the late Michael and Sophia (Ostrowski) Stawski. On March 21, 1938 she married Eldon Lachmund who preceded her on September 21, 1994. The she married Eugene Menke who preceded her on January 1, 2011.

Surviving are daughter, Sheila (Donald) Bitely of Wyoming, MI; son, Craig (Cheryl) Lachmund of Michigan City, IN; and two grandchildren, Jessica (Steve) Witvoet of Bradenton, FL and Vanessa Heuck, DMA of Wyoming, MI.

She was also preceded in death by her grandchild, Guy Heuck; two sisters, Regina and Sophie; and five brothers, Harry, Thaddeus, Henry and Eugene, Gerald.

Elfrieda was a member of Queen of All Saints Catholic Church and enjoyed playing bingo and polka dancing. The family would like to acknowledge Silver Birch of Michigan City and Dunes Hospice for the care they gave.
