Edmund G."Butch" Denecho, 78, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Monday, June 22, 2026 at 8:15 am in Aperion Care -  Michigan City, IN.

Private family services will be conducted. Burial will take place in St. Mary's Cemetery, Otis, IN. The Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel.    

He was born April 23, 1948 in Michigan City, IN to the late Edward and Charlotte (Reiser) Denecho. 

Surviving are two sisters, Diane (Jerry) Land of Wanatah and Mary (Bob) Napier, both of Wanatah, IN; brother, Robert (Connie) Denecho of Michigan City, IN; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.

Edmund Denecho wasn't a man of many words, but could say a lot without speaking. There were plenty of charades, gestures, and expressions that told you exactly what he was thinking.

His first and foremost love was the "Cubs". Whether they were winning of losing, he remained loyal. And whatever you did, don't mention the Sox in front of him for he would definitely have a thing or two to say about that.

If he didn't like someone they were "A Goon". If something tasted bad, it was yuck. He had his own way of describing the world and those little sayings became part of the memories we cherish.

Whenever you were leaving he would tell you "Tell Boo I O.K.". It was a simple phrase, but one that will stay with us forever. His Legacy was not one of wealth, but one of patience, kindness, and grace. Two of the greatest lessons he taught were to never judge a book by its cover and to always give grace to others. Those lessons are gifts that will remain long after he is gone.

We will miss his humor, his loyalty, his stubborn love for the Cubs and the unique way he made his presence known. Though he wasn't a man of many words, the impact he had on those who loved him speaks volumes. Rest easy Butch. You will always be remembered and always loved. We are letting go "Kneehoe".
