July 20, 1956 - April 25, 2023 

Duane Lawrence Rebac, 66, passed away on April 25, 2023 at Northwest Health-Porter, Valparaiso, Indiana surrounded by the love of his family.

Visitation hours will be Monday, May 1, 2023 from 5:00 PM till 7:00 PM in the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, Indiana with private family burial to take place in Greenwood Cemetery.  A Celebration of Life gathering will be conducted at a later date.

Duane was born on July 20, 1956 in Michigan City, Indiana to the late Frank and Margaret (Bridges) Rebac; Duane is survived by his daughter Cassie (Robert Sims) Rebac of Michigan City, Indiana, and his son Frank "Royce" (Amanda) Rebac of Valparaiso Indiana. He was a proud PaPa of three grandchildren, Samuel Rebac, Isabella Rebac, and Jackson Rebac. Also surviving are three sisters Joanna (Dave) Clark, Darlene Chamberlain, and Vicky Boeckling. One brother, Teddy Rebac; sister-in-law Cathy Putz and his former spouse Debbie Brinkman, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.  He was preceded in death by his brother Nicholas Rebac.

In his childhood Duane greatly enjoyed playing sports and continued to excel in Middle School and High School basketball and football. Duane graduated from Rogers High School in 1975. He went on to be a Michigan City Firefighter for a short time before going to work for NIPSCO in 1980, where he  retired in 2010 after 30 years as a coal handler. In retirement Duane very much enjoyed watching sports and being at his pool with his family, especially his grandchildren. Hosting Fourth of July parties for his family and friends was a favorite time of year for him. He loved trying any pizza place new or old and considered himself a pizza connoisseur.
