Douglas J. Booth, 86, of Michigan City, Indiana, passed away on Monday, July 14, 2025, at 10:15 pm in Rittenhouse Senior Living of Michigan City.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, July 21, 2025, at Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, Indiana. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will take place from 9:00 am - 11:00 am, Monday, July 21, 2025, also at the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel.
Douglas was born on June 7, 1939, in Michigan City, IN, to the late Cecil Booth and Elizabeth (Proll) Purta.
He is survived by his niece, Teresa Low of Mishawaka, IN; nephew, Chris (Lisa) Low of Martinsville, IN; great-nephew, Ryan Low of Cleveland, OH; and two cousins, Darlene Marazik of Elyria, OH, and Terry Jones of South Bend, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents, niece Jacqueline Low, and sister Nancy (Monico) Low.
Douglas proudly served in the United States Navy and later enjoyed a successful career as a pharmacist at Booth Wilke Pharmacy in Michigan City. He earned his Doctorate in Pharmaceutical Sciences from Purdue University. Douglas was an active member of the American Legion Post 37 and the VFW of Michigan City. He also volunteered with Children's International Summer Village, a cause he cared deeply about. In his spare time, Douglas was a passionate Chicago Cubs fan, an avid traveler, and a lifelong collector of stamps. He also loved playing cards and was always up for a game with friends and family.
