Diane L. Waltz, 81, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Saturday, April 4, 2026 at 12:57 am in Memorial Hospital of South Bend, IN.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, April 11, 2026 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 818 Franklin St., Michigan City, IN with Rev. Mark Reshan officiating. Private burial will take place in Swan Lake Memorial Gardens, Michigan City, IN. Visitation will be from 9:00 am - 11:00 am, Saturday at the church. The Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Michigan City, IN is handling arrangements.
She was born July 8, 1944 in Michigan City, IN to the late Harry and Helen (Glanz) Biederstaedt.
Surviving are two sons, Tim (Linda) Waltz of Lebanon, IN and Chris Waltz of Michigan City, IN; seven grandchildren, Amanda (Craig) Padgett, Zac (Abby) Waltz, Blake Waltz, Connor Waltz, Mason Waltz, Mia Waltz and Richer'ea Garrett; and five great-grandchildren, Jack Padgett, Grace Padgett, Elaina Waltz, Logan Padgett and Lilah Waltz.
She was also preceded in death by her step-mother, Hazel Johnson Biederstaedt; daughter, Valerie Waltz; sister, Sue Ann Anderson; and former spouse, Jack J. Waltz.
Diane retired as a social worker with the Division of Family and Children Services and also had been an educator for the Michigan City Area Schools. She was a life member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Michigan City, IN where she enjoyed attending services, volunteering and was strong in her faith. Diane enjoyed the outdoors, car rides, walking and talking about her childhood and family.
