David A. Santana, 75, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at 1:20 am in his home surrounded by his loving family.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, May 6, 2024 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, 1506 Washington Street, Michigan City, Indiana with Rev. Walter Ciesla and Rev. Steve Kosinski officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Michigan City, Indiana. Visitation hours will be Sunday from 1:00 pm -4:00 pm, and Monday from 9:30 am until 10:30 am at the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, Indiana. The Rosary will be recited at 3:00 pm Sunday in the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel.
He was born January 29, 1949 in Michigan City, Indiana to the late Abram and Jamel (Daher) Santana. Surviving are sister, Judi (Albert, Jr.) Schnick of Ocoee, Florida; brother, Richard "Rick" (Beth) Santana Sr. of Michigan City, Indiana; Caregiver & long time friend, Terry Westphal of Michigan City, Indiana; sister-in-laws, JoLynn Santana and Julie Ann Santana both of Michigan City, Indiana; brother-in-laws, Ronald Porter of DeWitt, Michigan, and Donald Gonser of Michigan City, Indiana; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great nephews and cousins also survive. He was preceded in death by brothers, Jeff Santana, Edward Santana along with sisters, Joann Santana, Joni Santana, Jamie Porter, and Jaclyn "Jackie" Gonser;
Dave was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, and Moose Center 980 Family Center. He retired from the Michigan City Fire Department, and was a sales representative for Salad Master. He also was a teacher in the Michigan City school system, Marquette High School and the Duneland Lutheran School and was known for his singing/entertainment voice throughout the area. Dave also was co-host of the WIMS Radio Burning Issues and channel 99 News & Views and was a veteran of the US Army.
