David R. Fischbacher
February 23, 1947 - March 4, 2024 

David R. Fischbacher, 77, La Porte, Indiana, passed away Monday, March 4, 2024 at 3:30 am in Life Care Center of Michigan City.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, March 8, 2024 at Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, IN with Pastor Kim Cole officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 am - 11:00 am, Friday at the funeral chapel.    

He was born February 23, 1947 in Michigan City, IN to the late William and Chrystal (Majot) Fischbacher. On July 4, 1980 in Michigan City, IN he married Joyce Baines who survives in La Porte, IN.

Also surviving are a daughter, Lisa (David) Hunter of Burbank, CA; son, William (Melody) Fischbacher, II of Des Moines, IA; five grandchildren; sister, Jean Ann Doyle of Michigan City, IN; and brother, Jack (Sharron) Fischbacher of Indianapolis, IN.

He was also preceded in death by his brother-in-law, John Doyle.  

David was a retired mechanical engineer having worked at Gateway Industries, Midwest Metal Products and MCTD. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of Vietnam and enjoyed photography, computers and NASCAR.
