Daniel Lee Bethke, 63, Westville, Indiana, passed away Friday, December 28, 2012 at 4:50 p.m. in St. Anthony Inpatient Hospice, Michigan City.

A time of remembrance will be held at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, IN followed by full military services conducted by the V.F.W. 2536 and the American Legion Skwiat Post 451. Private burial will take place in Greenwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. Wednesday at the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel.  

He was born April 30, 1949 in Michigan City, Indiana to Herman and Geneva R. (Pollock) Bethke.  On April 30, 1995 in Michigan City, IN he married  Cheryl A. Smith who survives in Westville, IN.

Also surviving are 2 daughters, Amy (Derek) Hamann of Michigan City, IN, and Marissa Bethke of Westville, IN;  2 sons, Adam Bethke of Michigan City, IN, and Daniel D. Bethke of Westville, IN; his mother, Geneva R. Bethke of Michigan City, IN; sister, Rebecca Lisak of Michigan City, IN; brother, Douglas Bethke of Michigan City, IN;  and 2 grandchildren, Austin and Alexandria Bethke, both of Michigan City, IN.

He was preceded in death by his father, Herman Bethke; and his former spouse, Monica Bethke.

Daniel worked for 45 years as a maintenance man at Mittal Steel and was a U.S. Marine Corps Veteran of Vietnam who received a Purple Heart.
He was a life member of V.F.W. 2536 where he had served as Quarter Master. Daniel enjoyed landscaping, yard work, and loved providing for his family.
