Cristy Dompke Obituary

Cristy M. Dompke, 48, of Michigan City, Indiana, passed away on Friday, October 3, 2025, at 10:09 a.m. at her home in Michigan City, Indiana.

A celebration of life will be held from 2:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 29, 2025 at the American Legion John Franklin Miller Post 37, 756 US-20, Michigan City, IN 46360. The Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, Indiana, is handling arrangements.

She was born on January 24, 1977, in Fort Worth, Texas, to the late Kenneth Rees and Melanie (Beck) Gore. On June 17, 2006, in Michigan City, Indiana, she married Garrett Dompke, who survives in Michigan City.

Also surviving are her stepdaughter, Andrea Dompke of Michigan City, IN; stepson, Joey Dompke of Michigan City, IN;  step-grandchildren, Amiah, Alicia, Jazmyne, and Natalia; stepfather, Ray Gore of Denver, NC; stepmother, Debbie Rees of McAlester, OK; sister, Vicki (Tom) Harvel of Michigan City, IN; brother, Brian (Jennifer) Rees of McAlester OK;  stepsisters, Tracy, Savanna and Melissa; brother-in-law, Scott Dompke; nieces Casey Harvel and Ali Harvel; nephews, Riley (Brook) Rees, Carson (Kmya) Rees and Jase Rees; and many great nieces and nephews. All whom she loved dearly and wholeheartedly. 

She was preceded in death by both her parents and her brother-in-law, Randy Dompke.

Cristy studied business management at Brown Mackie College and went on to own and operate her own cleaning service. Deeply involved in her community, she served on the board of directors for the Michigan City Izaak Walton League Chapter 7, was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion  John Franklin Miller Post 37, and was also a member of the Michigan City Fish and Game Club.

A passionate music lover, Cristy was the lead singer of her band, Audio Medicine. She found joy in camping, being outdoors, and spending meaningful time with family and friends. Known for her warmth, generosity, and vibrant spirit, Cristy was truly a friend to all and will be dearly missed.
