Connie Ann Benninghoff
September 24, 1946 - December 29, 2024
Connie Ann Benninghoff, 78, La Porte, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, December 29, 2024 at 4:52 a.m. in Franciscan Health - Michigan City.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 9, 2025 at Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, IN with Deacon Bill Zientarski officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until time of service Thursday at the funeral chapel.
She was born on September 24, 1946, in Michigan City, Indiana, to the late Harry W. and Alma (Schamman) Bard. On June 10, 1972, in Michigan City, Indiana, she married George James Benninghoff, who survives in La Porte.
Also surviving are one daughter, Andrea (Gerry) Abbett of Valparaiso, Indiana; two grandsons, Jameson and Jasper Abbett; one brother, Daniel Bard; and two sister-in-laws, Arlene Wegiel and Mary (Owen) Hurley.
She was preceded in death by her parents; father and mother-in-law, George and Eleanor Benninghoff; sister-in-law, Shirley (Dennis) Smiley; and brother-in-law, Gene Wegiel.
For 20 years, Connie worked in the cafeteria at Rolling Prairie Elementary School, retiring as cafeteria manager. She was talented at cooking, baking, and was artistic at coloring and painting. She enjoyed traveling, visiting her daughter in college, and taking memorable trips with the family out of the country. Whenever Connie had the chance, she made sure to spend time with family. She loved and cherished the time she spent with them.
