Clarence L. "Jake" Rapp

October 23, 1926 - April 20, 2017

Clarence L. "Jake" Rapp, 90, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Thursday, April 20, 2017 at 8:00 pm in Aperion Care Arbors at Michigan City.

A memorial service will be conducted at 6:45 pm Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, IN by the American Legion Skwiat Post 451 and The V.F.W. Post 2536. Private burial will take place in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm -7:00 pm, Wednesday the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel.

He was born October 23, 1926 in Michigan City, Indiana to the late Joseph and Elsie (Lange) Rapp. In Michigan City, IN he married Annie Rebich who preceded him on September 21, 2001.

Surviving are two sisters, Mary Jane "Sally" Oppel of Oregon and Betty Bentley of Trail Creek, IN; nephew and best friend, Al Henckel of Michigan City, IN; and several other nieces, nephews and friends.

He was also preceded in death by four sisters, Viola Henckel, Clara Reppart, Irene Swain, Caroline Jakubowski; and two brothers, Joseph "Bud" Rapp and James Rapp.

He retired as a crane operator at Bethlehem Steel and also had worked a Pullman Standard and Woodruff and Son's. Jake was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II and was member of the American Legion Skwiat Post 451, American Legion John Franklin Miller Post 37 and the St. Joseph Young Men's Society. He also enjoyed socializing.
