Clarence A. Edlen, 82, of Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Friday, March 13, 2026 at 12:12 p.m. at his home in Michigan City, Indiana.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. (EDT) on Friday, March 20, 2026, at St. Stanislaus Bishop & Martyr Catholic Church, 415 North Brookfield St., South Bend, IN 46628, with Rev. Msgr. John C. Fritz officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. (CDT) on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, IN 46360. A memorial service will be conducted by American Legion Skwiat Post 451 at 5:30 p.m. (CDT). The rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. (CDT) at the funeral chapel. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Michigan City, Indiana, at 12:00 p.m. (CDT). Military honors will be conducted at the cemetery by American Legion Skwiat Post 451.

He was born December 16, 1943 in Michigan City, Indiana to the late Frank and Mildred Marie (Feldkamp) Edlen. On July 6, 1968 in Michigan City, Indiana he married Sandra “Sandy” (Piechnik) Edlen, who survives in Michigan City, Indiana.

Surviving are four sons, Steven Edlen of La Porte, Indiana, Daniel (Carrie) Edlen of Valparaiso, Indiana, Joseph (Candice) Edlen of Plainfield, Indiana, Adam (Jennifer Peterson) Edlen of Kouts, Indiana; one daughter, Veronica (Josh) Katsasos of Brownsburg, Indiana; eight grandchildren, Cole Edlen, Drake Edlen, Owen Edlen, Chloe Edlen, Avary Peterson Edlen, Evan Edlen, Ella Katsasos, Eli Katsasos; three sisters, Mary (James) Powers of Vincennes, Indiana, Wanda (James) Mallon of Kentucky, Carolyn Wilke of Rolling Prairie, Indiana; two brothers, Ollie Edlen of La Porte, Indiana and John Edlen of Michigan City, Indiana; sister-in-law, Shiela Edlen of Michigan City, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandchild, Joshua Daniel Edlen; two brothers, William Edlen and James Edlen; nephew, Samuel Edlen; and sister, Bonnie Hartman.

Clarence worked as a technician at Joy Manufacturing and Sullair Corporation. He served in the United States Army from 1965 to 1967 and was honorably discharged. He was a member of St. Stanislaus Bishop & Martyr Catholic Church in South Bend, Indiana, a life member of the St. Joseph Young Men’s Society, and a member of D.A.V. Chapter #23 in Michigan City, Indiana. One of his greatest passions was working on cars and tinkering with anything mechanical. He was also an avid reader. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren, who brought him great pride and joy.
