Obituary

CASSIE (DEMSKI) ARMSTRONG
May 19, 1949 - January 5, 2022

Cassie passed away peacefully on January 5th surrounded by family. Cassie was born in Michigan City, Indiana on May 19th, 1949 1 to Chester and Doris Demski. Cassie was a 1967 graduate of McAuley High School and attended the University of Toledo where she graduated with honors obtaining a Master’s Degree in Education. Cassie was an elementary education teacher for the Toledo Public Schools. Cassie taught at several area schools - including Chase, Glendale-Feilbach, Fall-Mever and Harvard. Cassie's favorite grade to teach was kindergarten where she felt she had the most influence as the kids had not developed any “bad” learning habits. Cassie’s career spanned 36 years and she continued to tutor reading and English at Holloway School upon retirement.
Cassie loved traveling with her late husband, Bob. They enjoyed summers at their cottage near Hillsdale, Michigan and weekends on Lake Erie. Cassie was a member of the Toledo Zoo, the Toledo Art Museum, the Toledo Harbor Lighthouse Society and the National Museum of the Great Lakes.
Bob and Cassie were fortunate to visit Europe, Mexico, Canada and many of the fifty states including Alaska and Hawaii. They also took numerous cruises. Bob and Cassie’s favorite vacation was along the shores of Lake Michigan. Cassie continued to travel with her sister and brother in-law (Stacy and Jim Petot) including cruises, gambling trips and ‘ ‘SNOW-bird” trips to Florida.
Cassie was an animal lover, especially dogs. She volunteered at Toledo Animal Rescue and supported the Toledo Humane Society. Her rescue terrier (Lily) was her constant companion. Cassie was always there for family and friends. She enjoyed decorating for all holidays and made birthdays special. She made the world a better place. Cassie’s impact on our lives will remain in our hearts forever.
She is survived by her loving sister and brother in law, Stacy and Jim Petot along with her beloved canine companion Lily; her nieces Dawn Armstrong, Farrah (Ken) Routon, Tina Underhill and nephew Bill Armstrong along with many great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert ArmStrong, parents Chester and Doris (Stahoviak) Demski. Special thanks to friends and family who prayed for Cassie.
