Carolyn Ethel McCarty
October 25, 1949 - February 20, 2025 

Carolyn Ethel McCarty, 75, La Porte, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, February 20, 2025 at 11:24 a.m. in Life Care Center of Michigan City.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m., Friday, February 28, 2025 at Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, IN with  Pastor Joseph Shelton officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at the funeral chapel. 

She was born on October 25, 1949, in Asheville, North Carolina, to the late Donald M. and Martha Gladys (Kuykendall) Stepp. On December 23, 1969, in Carlton, Oregon, she married Franklin Wayne McCarty, who survives in La Porte.

Also surviving are her two daughters, Kristina McCarty of La Porte, Indiana and Kimberly (Richard) Marks of Hobart, Indiana; two brothers, Gary (Donna) Stepp of Dallas, Oregon and Edward Stepp of Carlton, Oregon; one sister, Brenda Marez of Carlton, Oregon; four grandchildren, Ashley McCarty, Lyndze Peterson, Katelyn Marks, and Hailey Marks; and one great-grandchild, Ameila Castillo.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and one daughter, Janice McCarty.  

Carolyn attended Harvest Time Church of God, where she exemplified a strong unwavering faith and commitment to her Christian beliefs. She was a devoted wife and mother and a constant source of love, compassion, and support to all who knew her.

Carolyn's selflessness was a defining trait in her life. She consistently put the needs of others before her own, always with an open heart and a listening ear. She was an incredibly supportive and understanding mother, always encouraging her children to follow their hearts and dreams. She raised her children with a steadfast foundation of love.

Whether it was through the warmth of her home or her thoughtful gestures, she made everyone around her feel valued and cherished. She poured her love into making every holiday special for her family. She enjoyed cooking, baking, and arts and crafts with her daughters, granddaughters, and great-granddaughter. A passionate traveler, Carolyn treasured spending time with her family and friends on vacations, creating lasting memories with each new adventure.

Carolyn’s legacy of faith, love, and devotion will forever be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
