Carolyn L. Bowers, 91, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Friday, May 17, 2024 at 6:39 am in the home of her granddaughter, Betheny.
Private family services will be conducted. The Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Michigan City, IN is handling arrangements.
She was born December 26, 1932 in Michigan City, IN to the late James and Dorothy (Hefner) Johnston. On November 22, 1969 she married James Bowers who survives.
Also surviving are her daugther, Cindy Kautz; granddaughter, Betheny Bortz; great- grandchildren, Cameron Tucker, Braden Tucker and Ryland Bortz; two step-daughters, Lynn (Mike) Bowers and Susan (Jeff) Granacki; step-son, James D. (Amer) Bowers; step-grandchildren, Alex Granacki, Mackinder Bowers, Grant Bowers, Michael (Wendy) Magley, Debbie Kautz and James Magley; step-great-grandchildren, Whitney Magley, Austin Magley, Devon Kautz and Isabella Rose Granacki; sisters, Barbara Wolfe, Jane (Terry) Spang, Chris Jensen and Peggy Chapman; brother, Garry Johnston; daughter-in-law, Sherry Petoskey; sisters-in-law Lynette Johnston and Jayne Johnston; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.
She was also preceded in death by son, James Petoskey; sisters, Pat Spaeth, Dorothy "Sue" Bartels and Cheryl Levandoski; brother, James Johnston; and son-in-law, James Kautz.
She has worked as an office manager at General Construction. Carolyn loved her family above all else, was an avid reader and enjoyed playing euchre and pinochle. She was a Chicago White Sox fan married 55 years to a Chicago Cubs fan. It worked.
