Carol Leman Obituary

Carol Ann Leman
March 3, 1936 - September 9, 2021

Carol Ann (Miller) Leman died peacefully at home on Thursday, September 9, 2021, surrounded by her loved ones.
Carol was born on March 3, 1936 to Violet (Pippenger) Miller and Ferrill Miller in a farmhouse in Nappanee, Indiana. She grew up playing with dolls, being outdoors, spending time with the farm animals and avoiding her older brother’s pranks. She graduated from Nappanee High School and married Daniel Leman, who preceded her in death. Carol stayed home to raise their three daughters, then later worked at St. Anthony’s Hospital (16 years) and Life Care Nursing Home (7 years) in Environmental Services before retiring.

Carol had a passion for antiquing, watching storms and finding new treasures at flea markets.  She was an avid Bulls fan and rarely missed a game. Carol was always up to date with the latest news, decorating trends and celebrity gossip.  She loved to spend time gardening and knew a lot about different flowers and plants. As an animal lover, Carol’s home had dogs, cats, and several other critters through the years. Carol loved spending time with her grandchildren, and they will treasure the memories they had with her.

In the late 70’s, Carol professed her faith in Jesus Christ and was a member of Countryside Christian Church.  Later in life she was a devoted follower of Charles Stanley, doubling up on his sermons every Sunday morning on television.  We rejoice in her promotion to Glory and look forward to a family reunion in Heaven.

Carol is survived by her three daughters, Juli Doyle, Danielle Skoc (Bob), Nicole Young (Jay), ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Clarence “Red” Syers was Carol’s longtime friend and partner in crime. Also survived by a special aunt, Evelyn Mitchel of Tennessee.  She was preceded in death by her daughter, Rochelle, her parents and her only sibling, Jim Miller.

The family is planning for a private graveside service in the spring. The Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Michigan City, IN is handling arrangements.
