Candy Lynn (Humes) Searing
February 12, 1969 - August 19, 2024
Candy Lynn (Humes) Searing, born on February 12, 1969, in Detroit, Michigan, passed away at the age of 55 on Monday, August 19, 2024, at Franciscan Health Cancer Center in Munster, Indiana. Known for her vibrant red curls and courageous spirit. Candy's life was marked by her deep faith and her unwavering love for her family and friends.
Candy's personality was as fiery as her hair; she was stubborn in the best ways, loving, caring, and possessed a great sense of humor. Her spunk and generosity were evident to all who knew her. Candy’s faith was everything to her and her spirits remained high even throughout the end of her journey here on Earth.
Among her many passions, Candy loved singing, dancing and enjoying great food. She loved butterflies, the color purple and collecting “blue birds.” Candy loved attending church, where she cherished both the friendships and the spiritual nourishment it provided. "Lagetti," was Candy’s specialty dish, which her children requested on numerous occasions.
Candy leaves behind a loving family who will miss her dearly. She is survived by her son, Jasen (Carly) Searing; daughter, Jennie (Kurt) Searing; son, Aaron (Mariko) Searing; grandchildren, Jaime, Ronin, Juaquin, Hayden, Brianna, Emerson, Arielle, Eavan, Clara, and Penelope; brothers, Mark Humes, Darin Humes, and Dennis (Kari) Humes; along with several nieces and nephews. Candy was preceded in death by her parents, Carolyn and Albert Humes; brother, Kirk Humes; and two beautiful nieces Khloe and Alisyn.
Candy's legacy of love, laughter, and faith will live on through the many lives she touched. Candy was strong and always saw the glass as half full. Her family and friends will continue to honor her memory by living their lives with the same kindness and passion she shared with them.
A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. The Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Michigan City, IN is handling the arrangements.
