Billy Ray Sampson
April 1, 1931 - April 11, 2024
Billy Ray Sampson, 93, Trail Creek, Indiana, passed away Thursday, April 11, 2024 at 6:49 pm in Residence at Coffee Creek, Chesterton, Indiana.
Private family services will be conducted at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, Indiana.
He was born April 1, 1931 in Corbin, Kentucky to the late Joseph R. and Mary Ella (Phillips) Sampson. On December 24, 1950 in Harlan, Kentucky he married Wyvonne Wallace who survives Trail Creek, Indiana. Also surviving are daughters, Sharon (Craig) Braje of Michigan City, Indiana, Debra (Matthew) Tiernan of New Buffalo, Michigan; son, Robert A. Sampson, Portland, Oregon along with grandchildren, Timothy (Danielle) Braje, Todd (Sopagna) Braje, Jennifer (Loren Gassner) Braje, Angelo Sampson, Gianni Sampson, Ryan Ream, Tyler (Jennifer) Ream, Alec Ream; great-grandchildren, Nathaniel Braje, Skylar Braje, Ellis Braje, Oliver Gassner, Sierra Ream;
Billy started his work career as a door to door vacuum cleaner sales person, and retired after 44 years as co-owner of the Vacuum Cleaner Center, Michigan City, Indiana. He was a long time member of the Michigan City Exchange Club, enjoyed the game of golf and in his younger days was a handball player. He now loved to go perch fishing with his grandsons.
