Betty J. Gardner, 96, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Saturday, September 22, 2023 at 10:58 pm in Franciscan Health - Michigan City, Michigan City, Indiana

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, September 28, 2023 at Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, Indiana with Dunes Hospice Chaplain Missy Buche officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Michigan City, Indiana. Visitation hour will be from 10:00 am  until 11:00 am, Thursday, September 28, 2023 in the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel.    

She was born March 7, 1927 in Michigan City, Indiana to the late Harry A. and Anna (Gutschow) Schwark.  On October 28, 1950 she married Robert W. Gardner, who preceded in death on November 4, 2021.  Surviving are son, Barry R. Gardner of Michigan City, Indiana and a sister, Harriet Ehrick of Wisconsin; She was preceded in death by two sisters, Marilyn Woodcox, and Dorothy Clark;   

Betty retired after 33 years from Indiana Bell Telephone as a service representative and was the last surviving member of the Pioneer Club from the telephone company.
