Antonette "Toni" Ruhe, 76, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Friday, August 30, 2024 at 2:33 pm in Franciscan Health - Michigan City, Michigan City, Indiana.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 am, September 6, 2024 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, 1506 Washington St., Michigan City, Indiana with Rev. Walter Ciesla officiating. Private family burial will take place at a later date. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 pm -7:00 pm, and Friday from 8:30 am until 9:30 am in the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, Indiana.
She was born December 17, 1947 in La Porte, Indiana to the late Anthony and Mary A.(Moretti) Checolo. On July 20, 1968 in Michigan City, Indiana she married Joseph "Joe" Ruhe who survives Michigan City, Indiana. Also surviving are two sons, Michael (Jenny Kopanski) Ruhe of Michigan City, Indiana, and Mark (Laura) Ruhe of Avon, Ohio, five grandchildren, Nicholas Ruhe, Allison (Nate Allen) Ruhe, Micah Ruhe, Charles Ruhe, and William Ruhe; Toni's former daughter-in-law, Heidi Ruhe of Michigan City, Indiana; She was preceded in death by her brother Thomas Checolo.
In her beginning career she was a licensed beautician. Toni then worked in the accounting departments of Weil-McLain Mfg, Michigan City News-Dispatch, and retired from Trailer Transit, Inc. She also worked for the Michigan City School System as a lunch time volunteer at Knapp School and worked with the Charter #1 program at Pine School. Her greatest love was donating any and all her time for her grandchildren.
