Anton Gregory Christensen, “Greg” “Mr. C,” age 73, Michigan City, died Saturday morning (May 14, 2022) at his home.
A funeral mass will be on Monday, May 23rd, 12:00pm, at St. Stanislaus Church, officiated by Father Walter M. Ciesla. Friends and family are welcome. Arrangements are being handled by the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, Indiana.
Mr. C was born on March 16, 1949, in Laporte, IN, the son of James Christensen and Mary Christensen. On January 17, 1976 he married his soulmate Christine (Cairns) Christensen, who has preceded in death.
Surviving is son, Anton Christensen, and daughter, Julia Christensen (Eli Haddad), grandsons; Aidan Casper, Alvin Christensen, Melvin Christensen, and Benjamin Bowersox. Also surviving are sisters Mary (Gerard) Mahnke, Angela (John) Flegel, Carolyn (Darrell) Bailey, and brothers Thomas (Donna) Christensen, Richard (Carolyn) Christensen, John E Christensen, and Gerald (Denise) Christensen.
Mr. C was a graduate of Marquette High School where he played basketball, ran track and field, and was in theatre. He started his collegiate studies at Purdue North Central where he was a M.V.P. basketball star for the Centaurs. He finished a dual degree in business and economics from Purdue University, West Lafayette. Soon after he met and wed the love of his life, and was married for 44 years, Christine (Cairns) Christensen.
In his 20’s, Mr. C was a member of the United States Junior Chamber’s in Michigan City. This group created Michigan City’s Oktoberfest and haunted houses as charitable fund raisers, to help those in need. Additionally, they built a bandstand at Washington Park. They hosted many charitable events as well. Many life-long friendships were developed during this time.
Throughout his life, Mr. C enjoyed his career as a self-employed local businessman. He was making deals until the moment he passed. He enjoyed gabbing with customers and made friends wherever he went. He worked his entire life supporting his family.
Mr. C was a family man. He loved family picnics and beach days with his loved ones. He enjoyed playing card games with his family and friends. He was an athlete all throughout his life playing sports including; basketball, baseball, football, and fishing; all of which he loved doing with family, friends and neighborhood kids. He fished until the day before he passed. Mr. C loved his family dearly and loved life. He was animated and brought joy to all around him.
