Anna Marie Zaknoen

Anna Marie Zaknoen, 93, of Michigan City, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 8, 2023 in her daughter's home in Carlsbad, California.
She lived in Michigan City, Indiana, until the age of 91 when she moved to Southern California to live with her four daughters.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at Queen of All Saints Catholic Church, 606 S. Woodland Ave., Michigan City, Indiana with Fr. Pat Kalich officiating. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Michigan City, Indiana. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday at Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, Indiana and from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Queen of All Saints Legacy Center. A Remembrance Service will be at 6:00 p.m. and the Rosary at 7:00 p.m., both Monday in the funeral chapel.
Anna was born on April 8, 1930, in Michigan City, Indiana to the late Mahanna and Sarah (Abraham) Nadaf. On August 5, 1956, in Michigan City, Indiana, she married Adeeb "Edward" Zaknoen, who preceded her in death on December 16, 2007.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers, George and Michael Nadaf; and two sisters, Margaret Espar and Jeanene Azar.
Surviving are five daughters, Sara Zaknoen of Carlsbad, California, Mariam (Thomas) Wessels of Temecula, California, JoAnn (Gerald) Kennedy of Houston, Texas, Susan (David) DeRoo of Costa Mesa, California, and Margaret (Dana) DeReus of Santa Ana, California; two sons, Joseph (Zahia) Zaknoen of La Porte, Indiana and Edward Zaknoen of Michigan City, Indiana; 10 grandchildren, Dylan (Alyssa), Connor, Evan, Nathan, and Adam Kennedy, and Michael, David, and Thomas Zaknoen, and Anna and Madeline Wessels; two sisters, Helen Hathoot of Michigan City, Indiana and Selma Azar of Schaumburg, Illinois; sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Anna was a 1947 graduate of Elston Senior High School, Michigan City. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Queen of All Saints Catholic Church, both in Michigan City. Her Catholic faith was very important to her. She was a dignified, kind and loving person and lived surrounded by her children and a large extended family whom she loved. Anna excelled in cooking and baking, especially Lebanese food. She loved old movies, opera and reading. Anna was well loved and will be greatly missed.
