Alvin was born July 21, 1944, in Michigan City, Indiana to the late John and Gertrude (Sobieski) Volk. Surviving is a sister, Genevieve Allen, Florida; and several cousins.
Alvin was also preceded in death by brothers Daniel, James and Thomas Volk; and sister, Victoria Ann.
He lived in Michigan City all his life. Alvin was employed at Majots Feed and Seed and he enjoyed doing yard work, watching westerns and Judge Judy.
Arbors had been his home for several years, while there the staff and residents fondly called him “Candy Man”. He could always be found with a chocolate bar and or an A & W Root Beer in hand, which he would share with others. Alvin was known for his quick wit, and his quick comebacks. He always had a kind word for others and was considerate of their feelings.
“Grief never ends...but it changes. It's a passage, not a place to stay. Grief is not a sign of weakness, or a lack of faith. It is the price of love.”
