Allan William Hiatt 
March 28, 1949 - November 8, 2025 

Allan William Hiatt, 76, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, November 8, 2025 in his home.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, November 15, 2025 at Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, IN with Deacon Bill Zientarski officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until time of service Saturday at the funeral chapel. Burial will take place at St. Stanislaus Cemetery at a later date. 

He was born on March 28, 1949, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to the late Robert Lawrence and Frances (Piszczek) Hiatt. On January 24, 1970, in Michigan City, Indiana, he married Lynn Marie (Fekete) Hiatt, who survives in Michigan City, Indiana.

Also surviving are his children, Kristen (Jeffrey) Steggerda and Scott (Mayeth) Hiatt both of Michigan City, Indiana; one brother, Robert (Barbara) Hiatt of O'Fallon, Missouri; one sister, Mary Ann (Robert) Carpenter of La Porte, Indiana; six grandchildren, Brandon Galvan, Michelle (Jordan) Koepke, Scott (Cydi) Steggerda, Tyler Hiatt, Cody Hiatt, and Aniyah Lyda; five great-grandchildren, Landon Galvan, Nathaniel Hiatt, Vanessa Koepke, Luca Hiatt, and Adalynn Hiatt; and several nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Kathy Bohle.   

Allan attended and graduated from Ball State University with a bachelors degree. After attending Ball State, he went to electrical school to become a electrician. Allan landed a job at the mill in Burns Harbor and worked there up until his retirement.

Allan enjoyed the 14 years of retirement he had. He passed time with fishing and camping. Allan also went traveling, sometimes on cruises, traveling the world with his wife. He watched basketball, baseball, and golf, and found pleasure playing those sports in his younger years. Allan enjoyed and loved his family, and attended many family cookouts and picnics with them. He will be truly missed.
