Aldona (Putrius) Maciukevicius

Aldona Putrius Maciukevicius died peacefully at home in Michiana Shores, Indiana on Wednesday, January 6, 2021. She was born in Kretinga, Lithuania on January 12, 1935 to Feliksas and Jadvyga (Maciūte) Putrius, she grew up in Lithuania until her family was forced to flee the Soviet invasion at the end of World War II. The family found shelter in the Dillingen, Germany in the American Sector in a displaced person’s camp. In October of 1949, the family immigrated on a US troop ship, settling in Chicago. She attended Maria High School and joined Dainavos Ansamblis singing group where she met her husband, Bronius Maciukevicius. Aldona is survived by her three children, Dalia Zygas, Vida Kluko and Darius Maciukevicius, and her grandchildren Aras, Aida and Kovas Zygas and Mary Kluko. Also surviving brother Vytautas Putrius and sister Birute Putrius Keblinskas. Aldona was a devoted mother who loved gardening and books. Her warmth, humor, strength and generosity will be missed by all who knew and loved her; she is now gone to dance another tango with Bronius.
