Albert Louis Sydow
July 28, 1927 - May 24, 2024
Albert Louis Sydow, 96, La Porte, Indiana, passed away on Friday, May 24, 2024 at 10:08 p.m. in Life Care Center of Michigan City.
A private visitation and mass will be held. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Michigan City. Ott/Haverstock 418 Washington St., Michigan City, IN is handling arrangements.
Albert was born on July 28, 1927, in Michigan City, Indiana, to the late Louis and Marion (Hibner) Sydow. On January 9, 1954, at St. Mary's, in Michigan City, Indiana, he married Lorraine Annette (Piotrowski) Sydow, who survives. Albert and Lorraine celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in January of this year.
Also surviving are one son, Jerald "Jerry" Sydow of La Porte, Indiana; one grandson, Brandon Sydow of La Porte, Indiana; and two sisters, Colleen Miller of New Carlisle, Indiana and Betty Seter of La Porte, Indiana.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Louis and Donald Sydow; one sister, Lois Dobkins; and daughter-in-law, Debra Anne (Pawloski) Sydow.
Albert honorably served his country in the United States Army during WWII as a member of the 27th infantry, and served from October of 1945 to April of 1947. He was a member of Queen of All Saints Catholic Church and American Legion Post #451 in Michigan City.
He was employed by Pullman Standard and Josam Manufacturing in Michigan City; and retired from Sumitec in Benton Harbor, Michigan in 1995.
