William "John" Pritz, 79, Trail Creek, Indiana, passed away peacefully Thursday, July 27, 2017 at his home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, 1506 Washington Street, Michigan City, Indiana with Rev. Walter Ciesla officiating. Private family burial will take place in Door Village Cemetery, Laporte, Indiana. Visitation hours will be from 9:00 am -10:30 am, Wednesday at the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, Indiana. Full military services will be conducted in Door Village Cemetery.

He was born November 6, 1937 in Michigan City, Indiana to the late Wallace and Lucille (Biela) Pritz. On September 10, 1960 in he married Marietta Frazee who survives Trail Creek, Indiana; Also surviving are Two Sons, John (Kris) Pritz of Lakeville, Indiana and James (Lisa) Pritz of La Porte, Indiana; Grandchildren, Brett (Kate) Slater of La Porte, Indiana, Erin Slater, of Jackson, Tennessee, Natalie (Chuck) Watterson of La Porte, Indiana and Matt Pritz of LaPorte, Indiana; Great-Grandchildren, Leigha Slater and Autumn Slater; Brother, Wallace (Lorraine) Pritz of Michigan City, Indiana; Special Sister-in-Law, Carol (Lawrence) Pilarski of Michigan City, Indiana; He was preceded in death by Sister, Mary Jane Embree;

John lived for his family. He will forever be remembered as a storyteller. John served in the US Army and spoke of his service with pride. He loved baseball, having played on the 1955 American Legion Post 37 State Championship team. John worked in the building trades for over 50 years. To his grandchildren, he was Poppie. Poppie was full of love, kind advice and always had "a couple of bucks" for his grandkids.
