Shirley Jean Williams entered the gates of heaven and eternal life in Abilene, Texas February 28, 2018 surrounded by her loving family.

She was born to Edward L. and Viola (Rehbein) Murphy on May 30, 1936 in Michigan City, IN. Both parents preceded her in death. In Corinth, MS on September 18, 1953 she married the soul mate and love of a lifetime, Frank L. Williams who departed this life on July 17, 2013. They were a very dedicated man and wife and worked very hard to raise their four children and build their dreams, for which they enjoyed traveling and looking out across the lake enjoying the wild life and serenity of the home they built in Bumpus Mills, TN. Shirley was a resident of Bumpus Mills, TN. She retired as a bus driver for the Michigan City Area Schools after driving for 25 years. Recently she chose to visit Texas and spent time with her daughter Loretta and grandchildren.

She is survived by two daughters, Colleen (Alden Hopper) Wadlington of Michigan City, IN and Loretta (Otto) Cordova of Abilene, TX; son, Melvin L. (Kim) Williams, Sr. of Michigan City, IN; brother Lloyd J. Murphy of Bumpus Mills, TN; sisters-in-law, Delores Johnson and Charlotte Hardcastle, both of Tennessee; and numerous loved nieces and nephews. Her pride were her grandchildren, whom will cherish many memories they shared together, these include, Katrina (Matthew) Gelsosomo, Krystal (Santiago) Miranda, Jacent (Kristie) Cordova, Adrienne (Anthony) Elliott, Macaela Cordova, Leslie (Lonnie) Lewis, Curtis (Debbie) Lindsley, Chad (Stephanie) Lindsley, Olivia (Barry) Sullivan, Amber Bush, Melvin L. Williams, Jr., Amanda (Sylvester) Roberts, Rebecca (Brandon) Hammer and Alex Roth. The great-grandchildren she greatly adored are Nicole, Nicholas, Kaitlyn, Brandon, Karina, Kiara, Kyra, JaiMalee, Jaiden, Kaileigh, Madyson, Jacent Jr., Aleina, William, Gabrielle, Michael, Warren, Layla, Franklin, Jackson, Dakota, Gracie, Gage, Gavin, Drayven, Anastasia, Chase and great-great-grandson MJ.

Preceding her in death are her spouse, parents, daughter Donna Williams, grandson Frank E. Williams, sister Beverly Purta, son-in-law Ronald Wadlington, along with many dear family and friends.

Shirley was a wonderful daughter, wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and good friend to many. She was a good hearted generous women and will be missed tremendously.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, March 10, 2018 at Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, IN with Pastor Dennis Pickens officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Friday and from 10:00 am - 11:00 am Saturday at the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, IN.
