Shirley J. Tackett, 79, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at 11:39 am in Aperion Care/Arbors, Michigan City, Indiana.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, August 18, 2018 at Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, Indiana with Pastor William Barnes officiating. Private family burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Michigan City, Indiana. Visitation hours will be Saturday from 9:00 am until the time of service in the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel.

She was born July 22, 1939 in Lutts, Tennessee to the late James T. "JT" and Estelle (Franks) Cooper. In Michigan City, Indiana on June 10, 1961 she Earnest E. Tackett, who preceded her in death on September 29, 1986. Surviving are two daughters, Judy Plantinga and Kathryn Tackett both of Michigan City, Indiana; two grandchildren, Brittany Plantinga and Brandon Plantinga both of Michigan City, Indiana along with a great-grandson, Cameron Plantinga; two sisters, Linda Stephenson of South Haven, Indiana and Carmen Fritch of Warsaw, Indiana; two brothers, Charlie Cooper of South Haven, Indiana and Donald Cooper of Gary, Indiana; She was preceded in death by a sister, Ginger Kinney.

She previously had worked in housekeeping at Red Oaks Nursing Home, Michigan City, Indiana. She attended the Faith City Assembly of God Church, Michigan City, Indiana and gave her family strength, character and much love.
