Ronald George Petersen, 72, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at 9:22 am in his home.
A private celebration of life service will be conducted. The Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Michigan City is handling the arrangements.
He was born April 30, 1945 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Oliver and Mildred (Emme) Petersen. On September 12, 1970 in Michigan City, Indiana he married Norma MacKenzie who survives in Michigan City, Indiana.
Also surviving are two daughters, Ann Petersen of LaPorte, IN and Erika Petersen of Michigan City, IN; son, Aaron Petersen of Michigan City, IN; step-mother, Eleonore Petersen of Michigan City, IN; and five grandchildren, Kaleb, Leah, Conner, David and Mackenzie.
He was also preceded in death by his brother, Scott Petersen.
Ron owned and operated for 42 years Ron Petersen Auto Body Repair where he was dedicated to his business and very well known and respected. The last automobile he restored was a 1955 Chevrolet Bel-Air. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran, the NRA and was a U.S. Marine Corps Veteran of Vietnam. Ron enjoyed traveling, swimming camping, hiking, boating, and spending time with his family. He loved Lake Michigan and going out west to visit all of the National Parks. He was known to have a great sense of humor and liked by all who knew him.
