Robert H. Ellis, 84, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Saturday, July 22, 2017 at 11:15 pm in Aperion Care Arbors at Michigan City.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm, Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, IN with Rev. Thelma McGill-Cobbler officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Lake Cemetery, LaPorte, IN. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm -7:00 pm, Tuesday and from 12:30 pm until service time Wednesday at the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel.

He was born April 30, 1933 in Michigan City, Indiana to the late Francis and Ethel (Speckien) Ellis. On June 12, 1971 in Michigan City, IN he married Beverly Jo Oswalt who preceded him on June 6, 2014.

Surviving are three Daughters, Katherine (Chris) Lute of Michigan City, IN, Mary (Brad) Shoemaker of LaPorte, IN and Susan (Thomas) DiGuido of Hinsdale, IL; two sons, Robert H. (Debra) Ellis, II of Orlando, FL and Randall (Kelli) Ellis of Valparaiso, IN; nine grandchildren, Nicole Skwiat, Kaila Shoemaker, Kyle Lute, Megan Lisiecki, Mitchell Lisiecki, Gaven Ellis, Abby Ellis, Lucas DiGuido and Sarah DiGuido.

He was also preceded in death by his step-son, Aurther Lisiecki; two grandchildren, Nicholas Ellis and Michael DiGuido; and his brother, Gerald Ellis.

Robert had worked as a custodian for the Michigan City Area Schools and was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War. He enjoyed fishing, reading books and old cars.
