Phillip C. Mason
February 26, 1952 - April 27, 2019
Phillip C. Mason, 67, LaPorte, Indiana, passed away Saturday, April 27, 2019 at 11:35 am in Hamilton Grove, New Carlisle, IN after a long battle with Parkinson's and Lewy Body Dementia.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, May 3, 2019 at Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, IN with Rev. Kevin Huber officiating. Burial will follow in Swan Lake Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Thursday from 9:00 am - 10:00 am Friday at the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel.
He was born February 26, 1952 in Michigan City, Indiana to the late Donald and Beverly (Burton) Mason. On November 12, 1982 in Michigan City, IN he married Scarlett Carlos who survives in LaPorte, IN.
Also surviving are three daughters, Heather (William) Neil of Fernley, NV, Amanda Vinson of Michigan City, IN and Tara (Glenn) Ray of Avon, IN; son, Kyle Mason of Michigan City, IN; eight grandchildren, Alec, Emily, Isaac, Todd, Derek, Elizabeth, Lena and Clara; sister, Cheryl Jania of Westville, IN; and three brothers, Michael (Paula) Mason of Morris Chapel, TN, David (Becky) Mason of Wanatah, IN and Perry Mason of Fishers, IN.
He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Melissa Mason; late wife, Nancy (Foldenauer) Mason; and brother, Steven Mason.
He retired in January of 2015 after 44 1/2 years as a pattern maker at Weil-McLain. Phil was a loving husband and father who enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and skeet shooting with friends at the Isaac Walton League. He loved all music and shared his joy of singing and dancing with his family. Phil had a contagious sense of humor and celebrated every holiday possible especially Easter and Halloween. Later in his life he considered Mexico as his "paradise", where he enjoyed his annual trips with his wife Scarlett.
