Patricia Jane Runnels, 84, New Buffalo, Michigan, passed away Sunday, December 9, 2018 at 4:43 pm in her home.

Funeral services will be held at 9:30 am, Friday, December 14, 2018 at Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, IN with Pastor David Solum officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Thursday and from 9:00 am - 9:30 am Friday at the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel.

She was born April 2, 1934 in Michigan City, Indiana to the late William A. and Josephine (Bothom) Swedenberg.

Surviving are her loving and devoted husband of 36 years, Dale Runnels of New Buffalo, MI; four children, Christine Lain of LaPorte, IN, Michael (Emma Jean) Downs of LaPorte, IN, Terry Downs of LaPorte, IN and Alan (Colette) Downs of Bridgman, MI; three grandchildren, Jammie (Danielle Dadlow) Downs, Jonathon (Sharon) Downs and Andrea (Dave) Libich; great-grandchildren, Cody Downs, Hayden Downs, Jordan Downs, Korissa Downs, Kaitlyn Downs, Noah Dadlow and Brock Mangold; brother, William T. Swedenberg of Michigan City, IN; very special brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Sharon Runnels and Nancy (Phillip) Whybrew; special-friend, Tabitha Downs; and many nieces, nephews and loving and caring friends.

She was also preceded in death by her brother, James Swedenberg; three sisters, Betty Ann McKee, Josephine "Tootie" Fekete and Joan Shutters; and son-in-law, David Lain.

Pat was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Michigan City, IN and the Polish Falcon's Nest 564, LaPorte, IN. She was the famous "Lunch Lady" at St. Paul's Lutheran School in Michigan City, IN for many years. Pat enjoyed traveling, especially to Disney and bowling. She loved to watch NASCAR and her favorite Jeff Gordon.
