Leonard J. Shebel, 93, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Sunday, May 19, 2019 at 5:08 am in his home.

Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:00 am Friday, May 24, 2019 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, 1506 Washington St., Michigan City, Indiana with burial to follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Michigan City, Indiana. Visitation hours will be Thursday from 4:00 pm till 8:00 pm and from 8:30 am till 9:30 am in the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, Indiana. The Rosary will be recited at 6:30 pm and the VFW Post 2536 & American Legion Skwiat Post 451 will conduct a memorial service at 6:15 pm both Thursday in the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel along with full military services Friday in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.

He was born August 13, 1925 in Michigan City, Indiana to the late Stephen and Josephine (Mrozinski) Shebel. On September 19, 1953 in Michigan City, Indiana he married Eileen Jean Vitzer who preceded him on December 27, 2010. Surviving are three daughters, Linda Shebel and Laura Smith both of Michigan City, Indiana and Sue (Jeff) Scheibel of East Lansing, Michigan: three grandchildren, Jason, Steven Smith and Matthew Scheibel along with four great-grandchildren, Sophia, Kendall, Liam and Addilynn Smith.

Leonard retired as Production Manager at Teledyne Castings, La Porte, Indiana. He was a member of Stanislaus Catholic Church, St. Joseph Young Men's Society, American Legion Skwiat Post 451 and the V.F.W. 2536. Leonard served as Sgt. with the US Air Corp during W.W.II.
