Josephine J. Porterfield, 75, LaPorte, IN, formerly of Michigan City, passed away Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at 6:03 am in LaPorte Hospital.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, December 22, 2018 at Queen of All Saints Catholic Church, 606 S. Woodland Ave., Michigan City, IN with Rev. Kevin Huber officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Friday at the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, IN and from 9:30 am - 10:00 am Saturday at the Queen of All Saints Catholic Church Legacy Center.

She was born February 1, 1943 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Henry and Mary (Szum) Frecke. On August 10, 1963 in Michigan City, IN she married Dickie Porterfield who preceded her on June 7, 2003.

Surviving are a son, Richard (Catherine) Porterfield of Chesapeake Beach, MD; two daughters, Mary Ann (Richard) Kemiel of LaPorte, IN and Jo Ann (Todd) Swistek of Trail Creek, IN; six grandchildren, Emily Kemiel, Abby Kemiel, Leslie Porterfield, Kattie Swistek, Jacob Kemiel and Lukas Swistek; two sisters, LaVerne Jackson of LaPorte, IN and Patricia Frecke of Trail Creek, IN; and her brother, Michael Frecke of Valparaiso, IN.

She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Frecke and Barbara Watson; and two brothers, Henry and John Frecke.

She had worked in the cafeteria of Queen of All Saints School and was a member of Queen of All Saints Catholic Church. Josephine enjoyed cooking, baking and spending time with her family.
