John Swistek, 80, Trail Creek, Indiana, passed away Saturday, June 17, 2017.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm, Thursday, June 22, 2017 at Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, Indiana with Rev. Kevin Huber officiating. Visitation hours will be from 4:00 pm -7:00 pm, Wednesday, and from 11:00 am until time service Thursday at the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, Indiana. Full Military Services will also be conducted Thursday at the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel.

He was born April 26, 1937 in South Bend, Indiana to the late John and Irene (Kuchowicz) Swistek. On June 8, 1968 in Michigan City, Indiana he married Rita Hayman who survives Trail Creek, Indiana; Also surviving are Three Sons, Mark (Rhonda) (Rhonda) Swistek of Laporte, Indiana, Todd (JoAnn) Swistek of Trail Creek, Indiana, Darrell (Dawn) Swistek of Laporte, Indiana; Brother, Stanley "Staho" Swistek of Port Charlotte, Florida; Six Grandchildren, Morgan, Katelyn, Lukas, Austin, Carter and Elise Swistek

John retired after 22 years as a Police Officer for the Michigan City Police Dept. He then worked for 15 years with the Michigan City School System at Barker Middle School as a custodian. He was a member of the F.O.P. Dunes Lodge 75, Life member of the St. Joseph Young Men's Society and served in the United States Army Reserve. He was an avid bowler having bowled a 300 game, enjoyed Horseshoes, card games, and enjoyed being with his family whom meant everything to him.
