Joann Saxon, 85, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Sunday, April 28, 2019 at 3:47 pm in Rittenhouse of Michigan City.

A celebration of life service will be Saturday, June 22, 2019 at the Long Beach Community Center, 2501 Oriole Trail, Long Beach, Indiana from 2:00 pm till 5:00 pm and bring stories to share. The Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Inc., 418 Washington St., Michigan City, Indiana are handling arrangements.

She was born October 23, 1933 in Joliet, Illinois to the late Earle and Lois (Richmond) Hurst. On October 23, 1954 in New Lenox, Illinois she married Charles Saxon who preceded her on October 31, 2010. Surviving are two daughters, Kristine (Paul) Kysel of Michigan City, Indiana, Nancy (Mike Papp) Saxon of Clermont, Floirida; son, Erik (Angela) Saxon of Traverse City, Michigan; eight grandchildren, Ian Kysel, Emily Kysel, Carina Saxon, Aneka Saxon, James Comstock, Heath Saxon, Charlie Saxon, Anna Jane Papp along with three great-grandchildren, Ezra Kysel, Owen Clust and Lillian Clust; brother, Edward "Ted" Hurst; She was preceded in death by her son, Jonathan Saxon;

She retired after many years as Director of the Children's Theatre with the Dunes Art Foundation, Michigan City, Indiana The family wishes to recognize their appreciation to the Rittenhouse family for their care and concerns.
