Gregory W. Priest, 66, of Michigan City, IN, died July 24, 2017 at Franciscan Health- Michigan City.
He was born Feb. 24, 1951, in Indianapolis, IN, the son of Armond and Wilfa (Roberts) Priest, both of whom preceded him in death.
A 1969 graduate of Ben Davis High School, he had lived most of his life in Indianapolis, before moving to Northwest Indiana in 2007. He lived in Chesterton, IN for several years, before moving to Michigan City three years ago.
He was over the road truck driver for 33 years, and also served on the Wayne Township Fire Department. Upon his retirement from trucking, he enjoyed the Lake Michigan beachfront, watching Notre Dame and Indianapolis Colts football, Indiana basketball, NASCAR and NHRA, and most of all, his beloved canine companion, Pooh.
He is survived by two sons, Joseph (Christina) Priest of West Chester, PA, and Jeremy Priest of Indianapolis; a daughter, Alison (Jesse) Hamilton of Oklahoma City, OK; grandsons Nathan and Tyler Priest; a brother, Gerald (Beverly) Priest of Taylors, SC; and his companion and caregiver, Mona Dickinson of Michigan City. A brother, Geoffrey Priest, preceded him in death.
A memorial service will be conducted in Indianapolis, IN and will be announced at a later date. Cremation will take place. The Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Michigan City, IN is handling arrangements.
