Geraldine "Gerri" Smith, 82, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Monday, October 1, 2018 at 4:15 pm in her home.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Friday, October 5, 2018 at St. John's United Church of Christ, 101 St. John Road, Michigan City, Indiana with Pastor James McDonald officiating. Burial will follow in Furnessville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Thursday at the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, IN and from 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm Friday at St. John's United Church of Christ.

She was born July 5, 1936 in Sparta, Tennessee to the late Thomas and Ruth (Ballard) Stewart. On April 15, 1954 in Michigan City, Indiana she married Philip Smith who survives in Michigan City, IN.

Also surviving are a daughter, Elizabeth "Beth" (Duane) Seifert of LaPorte, Indiana; son, Thomas (Susie) Smith of Michigan City, Indiana; six grandchildren, Michael (Laura) Kirby, Mindy (J.T.) Lawson, Richard (Catherine) Kessler, Brooke (David) Miller, Brad (Amy) Seifert and Jennifer Tresnan; 13 Great-Grandchildren; special-niece, Jeanette Eason of Michigan City, Indiana; sister, Anna Lee McDonald of Michigan City, Indiana; and a bonus daughter, Abby (Paul) Benevides of Rapid City, Illinois.

She was also preceded in death by her brother, Jerry Stewart; and two great-grandchildren.

Gerri portrayed Biblical monologue characters. She was a member of the Adventure Christian Church, Tavares, Florida and attended St. John's United Church of Christ, Michigan City, IN.
