Gabriel Torres, 81, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Monday, August 21, 2017 at 10:20 pm in Porter Regional Hospital, Valparaiso, IN.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, August 26, 2017 at Queen of All Saints Catholic Church, 606 S. Woodland Ave., Michigan City, IN with Rev. William O'Toole officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm -8:00 pm, Friday and from 8:30 am - 9:30 am Saturday at the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, IN.

He was born September 20, 1935 in Michoacan, Mexico to the late Teodoro and Modesta (Pineda) Torres. In Mexico he married Maria Juarez who survives in Michigan City, IN.

Also surviving are a daughter, Angelica Surna of Gurnee, IL; four sons, Teddy Torres of Chicago, IL, Misael Torres of Michigan City, IN, Jose Torres of South Bend, IN and Horner Torres of LaPorte, IN; 23 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Estella Torres of Mexico.

He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Maricela Baron; son, Gabriel Torres; brother, Jesus Torres and several other brothers and sister.

Gabriel was a retired meat packer and a member of Queen of All Saints Catholic Church. He enjoyed being with his family and watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow up.
