Frank W. Meyer, 87, Laporte, Indiana, passed away Saturday, September 22, 2012 at 4:00 pm in Settler's House, Laporte, Indiana.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am Thursday, September 27, 2012 at Bethany Lutheran Church, 102 G St., Laporte, Indiana with Pastor Dennis Meyer  officiating.  Burial will follow in Pine Lake Cemetery.  The VFW Post 2536 & the American Legion Skwiat Post 451 will conduct full military services Thursday at the cemetery. Visitation will be from 4pm till 7pm Wednesday in the Family Life Center of Bethany Lutheran Church  and from 9:30am till the time of service Thursday also at the church.  
  
He was born May 27, 1925 in Laporte, Indiana to  the late Frank E. & Louise (Trapp) Meyer. Surviving is his  wife of 64 years, Florence Meyer of Laporte, Indiana; Daughter, Kim (Ron) Shaw of Laporte, Indiana;  2 Granddaughters, Briana (Brian) Scanlon of Roy, Utah, Lauren Shaw of Laporte, Indiana;

He graduated from Laporte High School and enlisted in the United States Navy in May of 1943 and was honorably discharged in August of 1946.  Mr. Meyer was then employed at Allis Chalmers, Laporte and later worked in the engineering department of Joy Mfg., Michigan City Indiana  retiring in 1985.  While at Joy Mfg he was a member and president of the Joy Federal Credit Union.  Joy Mfg. merged with several other credit unions and became Michiana Federal Credit Union.  In October of 1999 Mr. Meyer was presented with a plaque honoring him for his selfless, dedicated service to Michiana Federal Credit Union and the credit union movement.  He was also a past president of the Dunes Chapter of Credit Unions.  In 1990 in Indianapolis, Indiana at the annual meeting of credit unions, he was awarded the Indiana Credit Union League's Volunteer of the Year Award.  He also was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church, Laporte, Indiana.  He was a founding member and first president of the Lutheran Men & Mission of Bethany Lutheran Church and the Pine Lake Grange #1044.
